A perfectly planned experience

We, the organisations that form part of AECAE, are well aware of the doubts families may have when it comes to choosing an alternative form of education like this. To ensure that the experience can be enjoyed with complete peace of mind and confidence, AECAE and its member organisations carefully plan young people’s study periods abroad, offering them tuition, personalised advice and the constant support and backing of the organisation..

AECAE is made up of specialised companies who lead the way when it comes to organising study abroad for the duration of a school year. We have extensive experience in the world of education and we are all bound by our common desire to achieve the highest standards of professionalism, quality, integrity and efficiency in everything we do.

At AECAE we also offer expert, in-depth information on every aspect of spending a school year abroad. We offer our services to students, parents, teachers, parents’ associations, school heads, and individual and groups who are looking to find out more about just how enriching and rewarding it is for youngsters to spend a school year abroad.

Guidance sessions

The organisations that form part of AECAE place special emphasis on the guidance sessions we organise for parents and students prior to the student’s departure. These events give us an opportunity to provide detailed information on every aspect related to spending a school year outside Spain and to answer any questions that may come up. We hold them because we know how important it is to set everything out clearly right from the start.

If the student is to stay with a family, our member organisations meet with the parents and student and then select the host family, which must be friendly and welcoming, have a suitable home and live in quiet, safe areas. The idea is that the student should feel right at home.

Support staff on the ground

When youngsters arrive in the country where they will be studying, the organisation will allocate a local coordinator or area manager to them. This person, who lives in the same area as the student or nearby, will be on hand to help them with any problems that may arise during their stay. In the USA, for example, the local coordinator takes care of family-related and personal issues, while a counsellor will be available at school to deal with any academic concerns.  In other countries, the counsellor normally takes care of both personal and academic issues.
In addition, students will always have someone they can call on nearby if they have any queries, not to mention the support of the company back in Spain.  Parents also receive regular updates on their child’s progress at school and their general well-being.

Validation of studies

Provided that the student passes the school year in their host country, they will have no difficulty in having their studies validated and recognised as being equivalent to Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) or Bachillerato (A Level/High School Diploma). AECAE and its member organisations comply with the basic regulations laid down by the Spanish Ministry of Education and the provisions of the international treaties and agreements signed by Spain.

With the aim of making this process as smooth as possible, AECAE’s member organisations offer bespoke advice to students before and during their school year abroad to help them choose the right courses and ensure their studies are correctly validated. We also advise students on how to validate their studies once they return home. Alternatively, we can take care of the validation process ourselves.

When students return to Spain, therefore, they will have no problems resuming their studies in the appropriate school year.
